Working with NIH as a vendor?

This website is intended as a resource to all technologists who are planning, building or buying elements of the NIH distributed information management system. This includes applications, data stores of various kinds and the infrastructure that enables communication between these distributed elements.

Since vendors supply many of these elements while performing against NIH contracts, they are asked to use this site to guide their development and to contact us with questions regarding the NIH Enterprise Architecture.

Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government information systems have been integrated into the quarterly Executive Branch Management Scorecards for each department-level Federal agency as of June 30, 2005. The scorecards measure the government's progress toward executing the management initiatives set forth by the President's Management Agenda.

To be successful, vendors will need to:

  • Understand and comply with  the NIH Enterprise Architecture
  • Understand the corporate dynamics of the ICs and the NIH
  • Help NIH organizations determine how to solve their reoccurring technical issues and provide the appropriate tools.

In addition, vendors must be Section 508 compliant and must have completed a valid Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) form. Vendors with outstanding Section 508 compliance issues have been placed in Containment.
