The NIH Director required a simple, streamlined approach for managing and tracking key correspondence. OCITA researched the NIH’s Technology Architecture to provide technical research on products that support workflow and document management. OCITA also provided information about the NIH technical environment to ensure successful implementation and integration of SERCH.
- Streamlined Procurement Cycle – The NIH Enterprise Architecture’s technical product recommendations simplified the SERCH proposal reducing the need to perform a product or “solution” search. This required that only an evaluation of implementation skills be performed.
- Cost Reductions – During the procurement process, NIH was able to negotiate lower purchase costs through the acquisition of site licenses.
- Reduced System Design Timeline – The NIH Technology Architecture provided a reference model that made it easier and faster to define SERCH’s technical requirements.
